Wheatfield Review. Otto Schwanke is now clerking at McGinnis’s store. Al is a real Moose now, evefo if he don’t resemble one. Al Konovsky shipped a carload of hogs from here Monday. W. B. McNeil, of Wheatfield, was a business visitor here Monday. The Yannigans went to Wheatfield Center Sunday and got cleaned by Jay’s team. Dr. L. N. Wells wife, of Chicago, came from Lake Village to spend a few days visiting. Boys, take a gentle tip and stop the practice of playing bafl-1 Sunday forenoons on the school — grounds, especially during Sunday school. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Granger and children, of Hammond, came Sunday evening by auto to spend a few days on the farm with Mrs. Granger’s people, Mrs. Curtin. The commencement exercises were held Saturday and. everything went off smoothly. The decorations were fine. Music by the Holland band was appreciated by all, and last, but not least, the, address by Rev. Hiss, of Valparaiso, was the best for years. The new homes of James Coberly and James Russell are nearing completion. The new store of H. C. DeKoctk is nearly ready for occupancy and when finished will be one of the best lighted and arranged stores in this vicinity. County Truant Officer Chas. Steward, of Rensselaer, was a business visitor here Tuesday. Mr. Steward was enroute to the Lake Michigan shore to attend a meeting pf the Ohio Farmers Insurance Co. The patrons of the C. I. & S. here feel sore that the company has taken out the telephone at the depot. Many farmers put telephones in especially fox the purpose of learning of shipments to and from this depot. Word was received here Monday evening by Fred Grainger that his large feed and livery bam was totally destroyed by fire. Mr. Granger said that the barn usually contained between eighty and a hundred horses each , night. Mr. Granger left via auto for Hammond as soon as he received the message.
