A. H. Wilson went to Hammond Friday. Margaret Demko returned to Gary Thursday. Ethel and Russell Rees came from Pleasant Grove Thursday. Wm. Palmer returned from Roselawn last week. The cottage recently occupied by Mrs. J. Kupke was purchased by Sol Rees Thursday. Mr. Hersch, president of the Gary Baking Co., was in town Thursday on business. The ditches raised a foot Friday night and several onion fields are under water. Harry Spate returned from Clarence, Mo., Wednesday. He reports continued rain there. Mrs. Josephine Kupke went to Kerdays’ visit with relatives at Springfield, Ohio.

There will be an ice cream social at Newland June 12th, given by the Yourig Peoples’ Society, the proceeds to be used for church work. H. A. Auble’s mother, Mrs. A. C. Auble, and his aunt, Mrs. Sarah French, of Grand Rapids, Mich, arrived Friday from attending the exposition at California. They will make a brief visit here. Mr. and Mrs. Midlam, " who have been living on Midway, went to their old home, Dayton, Ohio, Thursady to visit relatives. Mrs. Midlam may remain the entire summer. Mr. Midlam will return in a few weeks. A. H. Mahan and' daughter, Mrs. W. T. Miller,'returned to Winston Salem, N. Car., Saturday morning, taking Mr. and Mrs. Hoover’s baby daughter with them. Mr. and Mrs. Hoover started for Rochester, Minn., Saturday afternoon, that Mrs. Hoover may receive suitable care. Friends earnestly hope for her continued improvement.
