Suggests Need of Large Building for Meetings.
The two occasions of last Sunday, when the churches of the city proved entirely inadequate to hold the large audiences that to participate dn the afternoon Memorial observation and the evening baccalaureate service suggested the need of a large auditorium for such occasions and for many .other meetings, such as conventions, lectures, political meetings, etc. Many cities have such halls and they are used on many occasions. A building with dimensions of 60x 125 feet would cost not to exceed $5,000, icluding the seating, a friend inforips The Republican, and it is believed would become so useful that it would prove a very valuable enterprise for Rensselaer. It is pointed out that with such a building we could secure many conventions, hold joint revivals, possibly have the Chautauqua therein and for other things that would be suggested after its erection. A friend believes that a stock company could be organized and shares of stock valued at $lO sold. All will be able to see the utility of such a building.
