Officials Shown How to Make Reports to Commission.
The occasion for City Clerk Morlan, City Treasurer Sands and City Light and Water Superintendent Chamberlin visiting Indianapolis Tuesday was to answer ' a demand from the Public Service Commission for a report on the city’s public utilities. The law requires that each fiscal year ending June 30th there shall be a report showing all receipts and expenditures made by the owners of utilities. A system of books had never been kept here by which the exact amount of receipts or expenditures affecting the light and water funds could be given. The statement could be made in the aggregate but the commission requires that it be made to show a separation of the utilities?. The officers were given assistance in planning the report, which will now be sent in. On June 30tih another report is to be made and this can be done more intelligently because the funds have been more carefully separated during the past year.
