Lake County Ex-Sheriff Tells a Fish Story.
Thos. Grant, former sheriff, who is now spending the greater part of his time on his farm near “Fuller” island, was in town Tuesday and told a fish story that will probably cause the local fishermen to get the fever. The Singleton ditch passed one of Grant’s farms within a stone’s throw, and the former sheriff says that last _Friday, the ditch, which was only partially filled with water and very clear, was literally filled with fish of all kinds and sizes, among them being many pickerel and other game species. It was one of the greatest sights he ever saw in the way of hordes of the finny tribe, and his at-
tention was called to the ditch by his dog, which was among them trying to get some of them cornered. They came down the creek in the slight raise of water, but the heavy rains of the past few days have no doubt scattered the bunch into all the small ditches and the Kankakee river.— Crown Point Star.
