New Law Bars Rate Boost.

The interstate commerce commission decided that railroads cannot automatically increase their freight rateĀ® 10 per cent because on June 3rd the so-called Cummins law amendment to the rate law becomes effective prohibiting any limitation of the liability of the shipper. Railroads had airgued that the increased liability automatically raised their rates ten per cent.
