Just before the Lusitania sailed agents for several large life insurance companies solicited business from several wealthy passengers and it has been estimated that policies aggregating $6,000,000, were taken out as a result. A few days before the ship sailed it was learned that Alfred Vanderbilt took out an accident policy for SIOO,OOO.
