Evening Republican, Volume 19, Number 94, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 21 April 1915 — Get the Egg. [ARTICLE]
Get the Egg.
Do what you are paid to do and then some—it’s the then some that gets your salary raised. If it is a difficult role, so much the greater will be the honor if you perform it well. Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. Don’t stop when you have won your first victory—it’s not a gbal, it’s only a step forward. Success comes in cans, failures in can’t. Discouragements only make the brave more resolute. AH great deeds are built of small efforts upon a foundation of labor. Consider carefully before you say a hard word, but never let a chance to say a good one go by. Men who try to do something and fail are infinitely better than those who try to do nothing and succeed. Don’t waste your time figuring out why a black hen lays a white egg—but GET the egg.
