Made Trip to Michigan To Hasten Auto Repairs.
A. E. Shafer, of the Main Garage, returned Sunday from a trip to Pontiac, Mich., the factory location of the General Motor Co., where he had gone to hasten repair work for the auto truck that was struck by a train at Parr a week ago last Thursday. The frame had to be rebuilt and the rear axle and one wheel repaired. The parts were sent to Pontiac by express and received here by express this Monday morning. Mr. Shafer arrived in Pontiac last Friday morning and was told that the work could not be taken up before Tuesday of this week but he saw the general manager and was informed that if he wanted to pay for the extra over time work the job would-be done sooner and be did this and the work was done Friday night and expressed out Saturday afternoon. The General Motor Go’s, plant is a large one but not nearly so large as the Ford plant at Detroit which Mr. Shafer visited. It oovers 60 acres and is a great hive of industry and Mr. had the pleasure of being shown all through it. He came home by way of Toledo, Ohio. The truck is being put together at the Main Garage today and will be ready for business within a day or two. Ross Ramey, the driver, who was injured when the truck was struck, expected to return to work this morning but decided because the weather was bad to wait until Tuesday.
