Will Circulate Petition For a 16-Foot Brick Street.
A petition has been drawn “and will shortly be circulated for a 16-foot brick street on College avenue from Washington street south to the corporation line. Fred Phillips, who opened up the Fair View addition to Rensselaer, will circulate the petition and believes it will be signed by the majority of property owners. The street has been in very bad condition much of the time, owing to the heavy hauling on it. Frequently stone has been hauled and there is now a great amount of stone on the street and it is believed there would be enough to furnish all the bed that would be required for the biick street, thus reducing the construction expense. Eventually it is expected the improvement will be continued to St. Joseph’s college and also east on Washington street to the bridge.
