Rensselaer Young Men Fined By Kentland Justice Saturday.
Three young men who had been taken to Kentland Friday night in an automobile rented from the Main Garage, got in bad when one of the party said to be a . married man used insulting language to a young lady at a skating rink. She reported the insult to friends and soon there was an indignant crowd looking for the jnan. Anticipating the result the young men hunted up the driver of the ear and made a hasty start for Rensselaer, but machines with a lot of men who sought to reek vehgeance set out in pursuit and the Rensselaer car is reported to have started out in the wrong direction and to have got into a ditch and been compelled to return toward town and were there overhauled. One of the occupants of the car, apparently thinking he could scare the pursuer sout fired a pistol scare thd pursuers out fired a pistol desired effect and the pursuers caught up with the Rensselaer auto and all of the occupants were taken back to Kentland and before Justice Mock. Prosecutor Hess was there and filed charges against the men, the married man for insulting the girl and the other for carrying concealed weapons. Each was fined $5 and costs, amounting to $13.70. They gave checks for the amounts and were glad it was no worse. The Republican learned the names of some who were in the party but it is understood the married man gave an assumed name.
