P. T. Longachre, one of the conspirators in the match factory deal, was here yesterday. He says that he now lives at Worcester, Mass., where he and Sterling are manufacturing matches. Seems to us like it was whips the last time we talked to any of his crowd. Asked his business here, Longachre replied; “Oh, I am just here to look after our farm.” The farm is the former Warren Robinson land which the Rensselaer Commercial Club purchased and then transferred to the Sterling crew when representations were made that the land was to be sold to secure money to complete the factory. It may be remembered that Longachre claimed to have sold his interest to Sterling while here and to be entirely oht of the business. The Republican has always believed that if an action was begun, alelging fraud in the transaction, the title to this land would be returned to the Commercial Club, and it seems to us it might be worth while yet to try it. It goes a little against the grain to have some of that crowd of pirates showing up once in a while and talking about “our farm.” ■ J
