Knox has voted wet but Ora and Bass Lake will be dry. , v Charles Keeler is putting in several hundred peach trees in his orchard east of Winamac. Starr Bros, new elevator is being started, the excavation having been completed and the foundation in. The J. M. Kriss Lumber Co. has completed some extensive remodeling, enlarging their sheds and treating them to a coat of paint. Mrs. Lucy Hudgens, of Francesville has been declared insane, but admission has been refused at Longcliffe, owing to crowded conditions. The organization meeting of the Parents-Teachers Club was completed Monday afternoon. Prof. Geiser was chosen president, and Miss Anna Grimes secretary-treasurer. Max Burnett, who formerly conducted a clothing store here, is in trouble at Laporte, where he is accused of buying goods on credit and secretly shipping them to Toledo, Peoria and Detroit. A federal grand jury is investigating. Last December Joe Trapp assaulted Clarence Felker, who had been keeping company with his step-daugh-ter, June Moody. Trapp cut Felker with a knife and left an ugly scar on Felker’s face. Trapp skipped out but the grand jury indicted him and he was caught last week at Kentland and Sheriff Zellers brought him here and -put him in jail. John Hock has sued Wm. Kepler on account, the amount demanded being S6B. The J. M. Kriss Lfimber Co. has sued Byron Crump on account, for $74.23. Geo. Louderback has filed suit against Ben Bauman, alleging that the latter gave a check on the Kewianna First State Bank for $89.18 and the check had not been paid, the bank saying that Bauman had directed them not to pay the check.
