WIRE HELD HIS TROUSERS
Constable Lays Loss of Alleged Chicken Thief to Peculiar Accident Williamsport, Pa.—Constable George Allen lost an alleged thief in a chase because his trousers were of good material. Allen held a warrant for the arrest of Clyde Loßell, wanted on a charge of stealing chickens. He visited Losell’s home and the latter ran out of the back door, Allen gave chase, following him over back lots for several squares. 'A barb wire fence was in the path. Losell jumped, landing uninjured in the snow, while his pursuer attempted to climb over. Allen’s trousers caught on the wire and he was held prisoner while his man escaped.
