Hot-Water Chocolate Cake.

Two tablespoonfuls butter, one cupful sugar, yolk of one egg, two tablespoonfuls cocoa dissolved in one-half cupful boiling water, one teaspoonful of soda dissolved in one-half cupful boiling water, one teaspoonful of baking powder, sifted with one and onehalf cupfuls of flour and one teaspoonful of vanilla.
