Evening Republican, Volume 19, Number 25, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 29 January 1915 — William McMillan to Be Next Postmaster at Brook. [ARTICLE]
William McMillan to Be Next Postmaster at Brook.
William McMillen has* b<jen recommended for postmaster at Brook. There were several other applicants but The Reporter says: “We have never seen a more quiet, gentlemanly campaign.” It would probably be somewhat different if there was a democratic newspaper in Brook. Over at Kentland, for instance, Brother Steinbach is still tearing his hair because Hume Sammons got the job and only last week in referring to the dismissal of an old soldier at Fowler, who was sick for five days and unable to go to the postoffice, he said that Mr. Sammons had not put in 8 hours at the postoffice within three months. Frank Billings, democratic county chairman of Newton county, has been appointed postmaster at Morocco.
