BILL IS GREATEST ATHLETE

Manager of Australian Fighter Says Hie/flan Can Run 100 Yards In Less Than Ten Seconds. Mr. Lawrence of Australia, manager ot Colin Bell, tells me that Bell is the greatest all-around athlete ever developed in Australia. Mr. Lawrence says Bell can run 100 yards in even time any day—in fact, did run in ten seconds in a competition shorty before leaving England, writes Bob' Edgren, in Chicago American. He can high jump over six feet, and holds a number of Australian records. Becaush of his sprintingTabllity, so Mr. Lawrence insists. Bell is the fastest heavyweight in the ring. He explains the defeat by Bomby Wells by saying Bell had a tumor on his

temple, and fought in spite of the advice of his physicians that an Immediate operation was necessary. A tap on that temple put him out -After the fight he was in a hospital for several weeks undergoing and recovering from the delayed operation. As for the Jeannette fight, says Mr. Lawrence, Bell won 47 miles and 18 yards* and the whole mass* of spectators was amazed when the referee pointed to Jeannette as the winner. ’’Best proof of which is,” to quote Mr. Lawrence again, “that Jeannette absolutely refused to meet Colin Bell again, and Gunboat Smith refused to meet him, although offered a large puree and side bet Gunboat can have a SIO,OOO side bet with Bell any time, and if he cares to fight for the side stake alone’ the entire gate receipts can be given te charity.”
