Among the contributions to Queen Mary of England’s Work for Women fund received recently was an engagement ring which arrived by mall, accompanied by the following letter; "The boy who gave me this before he went away will never come back. He made me promise before he joined his regiment to give it away if anything happened to him. It’s a hard Wrench to part with it, but I promised him to do so.
