Evening Republican, Volume 18, Number 191, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 14 August 1914 — Martin Sauser Has Three Brothers in German Army, [ARTICLE]
Martin Sauser Has Three Brothers in German Army,
Sergeant J. Martin Sailser, who lives just west of town, and who is a retired osldier. from the U. S. army, has threa brothers In the German army and two others who are old enough and who will probably be in the volunteer seryise. Mr. Sauser has been in the United States for over thirty years and has not seen his brothers since all were boys, while one of the younger brothers he has never seen. While all people in the United States regret <the terrible war in Europe, none of us probably will be able to appreciate what emotions Mr. Sauser entertains. It is surely to be hoped that none of them lose their lives. . —.4— Henry Felthoven, a printer at The Republican office, is taking his summer vacation and spending it parents at Sandoval, 111. He will be home in time to attend his brother’s marriage Sunday and will probably officiate as “best man.” Word received by the parents of Stewart and John Moore state that they are very well pleased with the jobs they hold in the garage at Castleton and that they are even better than they had expected. Castleton is a good town. Fred Hamilton has been located there for several months. Two eave-ins have occurred this week at the sewer Conrad Kellner is the contractor of and as a result two of the workmen have suffered severe injuries. Lewis Watkins had the liiglments in his left hip badly torn and his left knee, injured and has to use crutches to get around. Wednesday Will Platt was caught by the caving earth and had a bone in his right ankle broken. The morning of the accident he had mashed his right thumb and this showed some infection Thursday and is causing him considerable trouble.
