Harry Parker from his sleeping piarch noticed the light of the Foiwler elevator fire about 2 o’clock this morning, but did not know where the fire was or what was burning until this afternoon, when he learned of the elevator fire. Miss Florence Allman went to Bloomington today for a short visit and will go from there to Corydon to attend a house party at the home of Miss Eva Shuck, who was her classmate at Bloomington last summer. Miss Allman expects to attend Northwestern University the coming year. Two human cases of bubonic plague and three rodent cases were reported at New Orleans Sunday by Dr. W. C. Rucker, assistant surgeon general in charge of plague eradication work, making a total of thirteen human eases and twelve rodent cases since the contagion appeared a month ago. The fire company was called out this afternoon by an alarm from the match factory district. A hay stack had caught fire on the land east and south of the factory building. There are no water pipes in that section, which is outside «f the corporation, •so the Ihose could not be used. The Chippewa Indians arrived this morning from Knox, where they played ball Monday, defeating the team of that place 4 t- 2. The game scheduled for Valparaiso last Friday was not played, the advance agent having failed to bill the city for the game. They are playing here again this afternoon, Clark pitching for Rensselaer.
