Presbyterians of America pl-edged themselves Wednesday to work for legislation that will put the Bible on even terms with the readin’, ritin’ and .rithmetic’ books in the pub--lic school system of the nation. The action was taken at the session of the Presbyterians’ general assembly in the Fouth Presbyterian ehurch of Chicago. ■ Proposed federal improvement of the Wabash river from its mouth to Terre Haute or to Mount Carmel, at this time, was disapproved Wednesday by the war department.
