While no accurate figures are available, those who are In position to know claim that consumption takes annually from 500,000 to 1,000,Hves In China alone. In India the death rate is fully as high, and on account of caste distinctions &d native superstitions, the problem of prevention and treatment is peculiarly difficult The Japanese government has taken a hand officially in the control of tuberculosis, and is co-operating with two well-organized private associations.
