WHISTLE FINDS RIGHT DOG
Mail for Canine Puzzles Hammond (Ind.) P. O. Officials, but Carrier Mpkes Delivery. Hammond, Ind. —“Tige" was among those persons who received mail the the other day. Well, to be honest, one can hardly call “Tige” a person. But he did receive mail. A postal card addressed to "Tige," Hammond, Ind., was received at the post office. Reference to the city directory failed to repeal the address of any Mr. Tige. Desirous of doing their fully duty, the postal authorities glanced at the other-side of the card and read: • “Hello. Tige. Are you a good dog?” The writer signed herself "Mother.” "Mother's other name, it appeared, was "Bessie.” NoW, Julius Kosanke, a mail carrier, likes dogs, and he volunteered to carry Bessie’s message to Tige. From street to street and from door to door went the kind-hearted mail carrier.. As he walked he whistled and shouted “Tigel” . At last Kosanke passed a house
from which emerged a bow-legged, sway-backed, long-toother and barking bulldog. “Hello, Tige,” said Kosanke in desperation. “Are you a good dog?” Tige wagged his abbreviated tail and, taking the proffered postal card in his mouth, ran back to. the house And thus it was Bessie's message to Tige was delivered.
