SWISS HEALED BY MIRACLES
Carpenter With Mappetlp Powers Is Exciting the Credulous Near Lake Geneva. Paris.—At Thonon-les-Balns, on the lake of Geneva, numbers of sick persons, of all grades of society, are asking for treatment by a Swiss carpenter named Dubois, who, it is said, has true magnetic powers, and has effected many striking cores. Dubolp was recently prosecuted for illegally practising medicine, but waa acquitted, and when the case was heard evidence was given by several individuals who claimed to have'been cured by him. The Paris Matin thus describes the method employed by Dubois: 'The patients themselves have to bring an empty bottle. After a few magnetic passes over the bottle they notice with stupefaction that it remains vertically beneath the open hand of the operator, the adherence being such that it is impossible to pull it away. The magnetic Jfluid has acted. All that remains is to fill the magnetized bottle with some sort of water and to drink a glass of it before meals. This is the only treatment recommended. The Matin devotes half a column to the subject of the carpenter’s “miracles.”
