Edward Hines of Chicago Is Victor In Famous Fight With State of Mississippi. Jackson, Miss. —Edward Hines, Chicago lumberman, has won his famous fight with the state of Mississippi, involving timber holdings in the'southern counties, valued at about fifteen million dollars. The supreme court held that a foreign corporation is not amenable to the statute prohibiting timber holdings by any corporation in excess of $2,000,000 in value. The decision upholds the constitutionality of the statute, but rules that it can be made applicable to domestic corporations only.
