Hoffine returned to Fowler today, after a visit since last' Saturday with his sister, Mrs. William Garvin, who returned that day from a Chicago hospital, where she had undergone a surgical operation. Home GroJoseph Adams, who has been in quite poor health tor some time, today went to Indianapolis in care of /his brother, Marion 1. Adams, ahd it is probable will take treatment in a sanitarium there. He left the farm only recently and moved into the former N. W. Reeve property on South Van Rensselaer street, which he had , purchased some time ago. Comrade Fox, the mail carrier, had his left hand bitten by a rat Sunday. He had set a trap tor the rodent in his corn barrel and forgot about it When he put hi* hand into the barrel to get some corn. A rat, which was fast in the trap, caught the back of his hand in its teeth, inflicting a bad wound, which required the services of a physician to dress and which has caused him some pain. Mrs. F. X. Busha came (from Lafayette Sunday morning on an early morning train, having been called home by the critical condition of her father, W. H. Beam. Hurley Beam was also called home from Chicago. Mr. Beam fe some better today and apparently has passed the most critical point of the attack. Relief Agent West, of the Monon, came this morning to take charge of the depot work until Mr. Beam is able to return, to the fob. Deputy Wilcox is still confined at his home with tonsllitls.
