Mrs. Florence Lee, of Indianapolis, came yesterday for a visit of indefinite length with her sister, Mrs. A. A. Fell. The Woman’s Missionary Society of the Presbyterian church meets with Mrs. George Reed Wednesday afternoon, April Bth, at 2:30. E. church after the prayer meeting Wednesday evening. Willis Handley, the Monon druggist, was a Rensselaer visitor this morning, having come over to pay taxes on a farm of 240 acres in Milroy township, which he and Dr. Reagan, also of Monon, jointly own. A E. Wallace will not leave Rensselaer but will continue in the produce busineos and has already opened up a buying station north of the railroad where the depot grocery was formerly located. Home GroJoseph Adams, who has been in quite poor health tor some time, today went to Indianapolis in care of /his brother, Marion 1. Adams, ahd it is probable will take treatment in a sanitarium there. He left the farm only recently and moved into the former N. W. Reeve property on South Van Rensselaer street, which he had , purchased some time ago. Comrade Fox, the mail carrier, had his left hand bitten by a rat Sunday. He had set a trap tor the rodent in his corn barrel and forgot about it When he put hi* hand into the barrel to get some corn. A rat, which was fast in the trap, caught the back of his hand in its teeth, inflicting a bad wound, which required the services of a physician to dress and which has caused him some pain. Mrs. F. X. Busha came (from Lafayette Sunday morning on an early morning train, having been called home by the critical condition of her father, W. H. Beam. Hurley Beam was also called home from Chicago. Mr. Beam fe some better today and apparently has passed the most critical point of the attack. Relief Agent West, of the Monon, came this morning to take charge of the depot work until Mr. Beam is able to return, to the fob. Deputy Wilcox is still confined at his home with tonsllitls. B. J. Moore has a contract for getting out and crushing stone for five miles of White county road, on which he will begin work as soon as the weather settles. The road is near Chalmers and the contractor is an Idaville man. Sol Guth and a gang of woodsmen, twelve in number, arrived this morning and he put them to work clearing up 80 acres on the former C.
