Christian Pike Gish, probably the oldest and most widely known man in St. Joseph county, died Thursday at his home in South Bend. He hiad been in failing health for about three months, due to extreme age, but had been bedfast for only a few days. He was 86 years old and had lived in South Bend for 77 years.

Wiages of farm laborers have increased more than those of the city wtorkmian during the past twenty years, a department oif agriculture investigation has revealed. During the past year, the pay of the farm hand, increased two and one-half per cent, the increase has been eleven per cent in the past four years, and thirty-six per cent since 1892.
