Cromwellian Sagacity.
Here is an unusual story of Olivet Cromwell: An English bishop named Juxon kept a pack of harriers, which on one occasion ran through Chipping Norton churchyard while the Puritans
were holding service. A member o! the assembly was sent to complain to Cromwell. “Pray,” asked the protector, "do you think that the bishop prevailed on the hounds and hare to run through the churchyard at that time?” It was confessed that this was not imputed to the bishop. “Then,” cried Cromwell, “get you gone, and let me hear no such frivolous complaints; while the bishop continues not to give my government any offense let him enjoy his diversion of hunting Unmolested.”
