VICK’S KSSS.S»t SALVE FOR ALL COLD TROUBLES Household Goods Should Be Assessed Much Higher. State Tax Commissioner Houck, who was here last Friday to talk to the township assessors at the office of County Assessor Lewis, stated that there is a great unfairness in the matter of the assessment of household effects and that In most cases there should be a considerable raise in these assessments. While the plan of taking the effects of many poor people at $25 is not criticised, it is not fight to take many elegantly furnished homes at SSO to $75. At a matter of fact many of these homes have one ot two articles of furniture that are worth more than the assessment placed on everything in the homes. The commissioner also stated that farming implements are taken too low and urged that there be an increase on these also. Republican Call. Notice is hereby given to the Republican voters of Keener township and all those who wish to affiliate with them, that a mass meeting will be held March 28, 1914, at 2 p. m., at DeMotte, Ind., for thepurpose of electing delegates and alternate delegates to attend the county convention, to be held at Rensselaer, Ind., the following Monday, March 30th, 1914.
