NEW TELEPHONE CO. IS MONTICELLO PLAN

Old Company Has Come Off High Horse and Now Makes Proposition for Adjustment. Monticello Journal. . Last evening’s telephone meeting was numerously attended and something like $4,000 worth of stock was subscribed for a new telephone company for which the plans and prospectus was presented. The people who are talking of organizing a new company plan the issue of 1,000 shares of stock at S2O per share. The petition for permission to establish a new company in Monticello is already drafted and will be filed soon unless something transpires from a movement started yesterday afternoon. There was a conference between some of the directors of the telephone company yesterday afternoon and members of the citizens’ com-’ mittee in which it was arranged to submit a proposition. This proposition was expected to come in written form from the telephone company yesterday evening. Instead of that the company submitted a request asking that a committee be named to meet the directors of the company to talk over the situation and meet upon some kind of a basis for a compromise agreement. Messrs. Will Anheier, Grant Goodwin, S. R. Cowger, C. W. Davis, Geo. Beiderwolif, W. W. Richey, T. H. Munroe and E. R. Gardner were named. This committee met this forenoon and drafted a series of “demands upon the company which will be presented in the conference which is to be held this evening. The demands look towards free toll service as at first demanded and makes one or two other requests. The requests will be published in full later.
