New Yorker Fined For a Subterfuge That Failed.
George Nordenholt, a New York ammunition manufacturer, was fined SI,OOO last week for haying shipped ammunition to General Carranza in Mexico and labeled it -“hails.” "The embargo had been raised and the manufacturer bad a right to ship the ammunition but £e used the subterfuge of mislabeling it in order to secure a cheaper freight rate. The ammunition was in 100 kegs and a layer of nails covered the top of each keg, underneath the lid. It might have gone undiscovered had not a kig bursted open just before the border was crossed. Nordenholt would have saved SSOO in freight charges but he now has the freight to make good, a fine of SI,OOO to pay and a delay in the delivery of his shipment.
