Lewis S. Alter, of Carpenter township, has been down four weeks with neuralgia of the spine, from a spell of lagrippe, but is getting better. His daughter, Minnis D.. came from Lafayette Wednesday for a few days’ visit. The same day his eon, Lewis Alter, Jr., wife and two children, came from Valentine, Neb., on a visit Lewis, Jr„ proved up on his claim of 640 acres two weeks ago. He has some good farm land along the Snake river, with a splendid water power of 3,000 or 4,000 horsepower.
