At the present time there are in th« United States and Canada in various herds slightly fewer than 3,000 pure* blooded biaons. The principal herds today are located in Canada, In the Yellowstone National park. In Sail Lake City, Utah, in the Wichita Ns* tionat forest, in Oklahoma, in Montana, in the Bine Mountain forest. In New Hampshire, at Fort Piers, S. D., and smaller numbers of the animal are scattered over the country in zoological parka.
