PURTELLE’S OFFER IS COURTEOUSLY REJECTED

Chicago City Council Declines to Negotiate With Eugene—Call His Plans '‘Talk.” Eugene Purtelle talked Wednesday to the local transportation company of the Chicago city council about his‘ plans to construct a comprehensive subway system for that city practically cost to the city. Purtelle declined to say who his backers are and the committee informed him that they would have nothing to do with him unless he came across with that information. The members x)f the committee reported that his scheme was “mere talk.” Purtelle’s answers to questions were so evasive that the committee decided to shelve his proposition.
