PRESBYTERIAN BIBLE CLASS ENTERTAINED
J" *: ’ . _ - ___ • : •; ' r Mayor and Mrs. Spitler Gave 6 O’clock Dinner to “The Other Fellow Class” Friday.
Mayor and Mrs. Charles G. Spitler, assisted by Mrs. James H. Chapman and Mrs. Rev. Parrett, entertained the young men’s Bible class of the Presbyterian church at a four course 6 o’clock 'dinner Friday evening The purpose of this meeting was made known by the mayor himself.
First, to organize the class. In doing so it was necessary to elect a president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. The election resulted as follows: Ransom Sawin, president; William Babcock,. vice president; Samuel O. Duvall, secretary; Harry Moore, treasurer. A class without activity is without life or interest. Nothing appeals more strongly to men, women and children than ‘The doing of things well worth doing.” In order that life of the class be healthy and the interest general, the activities should be general, well proportioned and properly related to the needs of school, the church and ■ the community. Experience has proved that three kinds of activities are essential to a steady growth of life, interest and power—those which increase and maintain the of the class, those which meet the social needs of its members, and those which cultivate their religious life and ther spirtual needs. For this reason the young men’s Bble class of the Presbyterian church has taken the step they did Friday night. After the organizing of the class the following constitution was adopted:
Every young man has a social nature and need. “The Other Fellow Class” is meeting this need in a most helpful and encouraging way. The social committee shall provide for at least four socials a year. One of these may be the annual class banquet. Young men have been interested in the class and Bible study through athletics. The following teams will be organized: baseball’, basketball, indoor ball, tennis, indoor and outdoor track meets and hockey. Many instances have been seported where young men have been interested by means of healthful sports and later brought to Christ and the church. A Warm invitation is extended to any young man wishing to unite with this class. Cordially, SAMUEL O. DUVALL, Sec. The following were present at the dinner: James H. Chapman, J. C. Parrett, Samuel O. Duvall, G. P. Padgitt, Victor B. Hoover, Harry Mooi;e, Archie Lee, Wm. Babcock, Ransom Saiwin, Emil Hanley, Gerald Edson Murray, Gaylord Long, Paul Millei’, Tom Padgitt, Glen Swain.
