The officers and teachers of the Christian Sunday School are called for a conference at the church ait 6:30 o’clock this evening. Two teachers at the Monnett-De Peyster School for Girls, who have had the mumps, have recovered and no new cases have developed. Miss Versa Watson returned to her home at Medaryville today after a visit of three weeks at the home of Arthur Watson. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Eger and baby returned this morning from Lafayette, where they spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Orlan Grant. Thos. A. Breen, of Marion, Ohio, has just entered St. Joseph’s college, his father, Cornelius Breen, having accompanied him here. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Haner and baby returned Sunday to Lexington, 111., after a visit of six weeks with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Henry Avis. There have been several new students at the Monnett school since the holiday vacation and two* more were brought here Saturday by H. N. Higginbotham, of Chicago, George Lowman and wife, of AmJ?oy, were in town this morning, George is just recovering from a quite severe sickness. He expects to move to Jasper county shortly. M. L. Hemphill continues to make some improvement. He was a caller at The Republican office today and looks almost as well as he did before he suffered a slight stroke of paralysis several months ago. John M. Johnson, of Pleasant Ridge, this morning delivered to Gangloff Bros., a matched team of steel gray horses, which he had raised and for which he received $350. Charles Heck returned to his home at Belle Center, White county, yesterday, after a visit here with Tils agM mother, Mrs. John Heck, who lives with her daughter, Mrs. O. S. Baker. Mrs. Heck is 89 years of age. Mrs. A. G. Oatt returned home yesterday from Wesley hospital, Chicago, Dr. Catt having gone there to assist her in making the trip. She is still very weak and her complete recovery will doubtless be very slow., Mrs. Lizzie Shindler, of Brook, was here a short time this morning enroute to her home. She was called to Hardinburg two weeks ago to attend the funeral of her mother, Mrs. Margaret Bringle, who died at the age of 72 years. Among other things advertised for George Reed’s sale is a matched team of sorrel mares, and in the bill the age reads 15 years, which is just ten years older than they are. The mares are half-sisters and are five years old. Mrs. H. A. Baker, who has been visiting relatives at Mt. Ayr, made a trip to Monticello today. She expects to leave shortly for Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, to remain during the spmmer with her brother. Mrs. Napoleon Lafond. of Little Falls, Minn., came this morning to see her aged mother, Mrs. Amelia Durchier, who lives with her daughter, Mrs. Philip Roy, south of this city. Mrsfl Durchier is 85 years of age and is quite poorly at thfo time. Prof., Ira Coe, accompanied by Elvyn Allman and Dale Thurlow, went to Purdue Saturday to investigate the poultry houses and methods of caring for chickens. It is intended to embody in poultry in the schools this spring. Elvin remained over Sunday.
