Mrs. John Shearer’s sister is her guest. Tom Samuels and mother' will move the first of February from the Grant property, which will be immediately occupied by Mr. Smalley and family, of Attica. Dr. Krebs, of Huntington, was in our city last week to call on Mrs. Townsend. Mr. .and Mrs, Stewart Reed’s infant child is quite sick. “Jersey” Guy is spending a vacation with home people. Edgar Tribby came home from Logansport Saturday evening. A lecture for the benefit of - the public school is dated for Wednesday evening at the M. E. church. Several “booze” lovers broke into the town hall, where confiscated beer had been stored since a recent raid. They made merry for a time but Marshal Rush finally found th e guilty" parties, whir are now under bail. Mrs. Harold Bowman and son spent the past week with her parents. Mr. Bowman came Sunday, when they all returned to their home in Monticello. Mrs. J. C. Gleason, of Clifton, 111., visited her sisters, Mrs. Spencer and Mrs. Hargreaves, this week. Miss Grace Sharkey returned on Thursday from a visit in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Merritt moved last week into the cottage vacated by Mr. Wickham. Misses Claire Broadie and Blanch Parks spent Sunday in Lafayette. Vernon Balcom has opened up renovating paTiors in the room west of the public library. ~~ Mr. and Mrs. Bert Kyle were called to lowa Monday by the death of his mather, Mrs. Amelia Kyle. Erastus Peacock came from Rensselaer Saturday for a short visit with his daughter, Mrs. H. J. Bar* too.
The kitchen shower conducted by the Presbyterian Ladies Industrial Society in the new churtih basement was a success in that a complete line of kitchen ware was installed and plans made tor securing coupons from soap and salt, etc., by which to procure Silver for the dining room. A neat sum of cash was part of the result. The young ladies circle of the Christian church conducts an all day market Saturday, Jan. 31, in Merritt’s grocery. Rev. Frank Shane filled the pulpit of the Christian church Sunday morning and evening as a candidate. Mr. and Mrs. John McOollough gave a 6 o’clock dinner Monday. Mrs. Lucy Bartlett has been quite sick with erysipelas. < Clubs. The Study Club was in session Monday night for the first program since Xmas. Mrs. Lough and Miss Alice Jones were on duty, reviewing chapters from Greek Art and Where Civilizations Meet. The Fortnightly Clu • ' terl 1 meet January 28th at the home of Mrs. Wm. Geier. The Sew and Sew were in session last Friday with Mrs. Walter Johnston. Several special guests were present, among them Miss Maud Kline, of Leroy, 111. Mrs. Harvey Zinser is the next hostess at the home of her mother. Wdlcott and Remington met at basketball on the Wolcott floor last Friday and scored 22 to 14 in favor of the former. Our Refbekah chapter is making preparation for the convention in Rensselaer Friday. Dr. and Mrs. Rainier,attended the auto show in Chicago.
