Two Murderers Are Reprieved By Governor’s Clemency.
John Cherka and Harry Rasico, murderers who were to have been electrocuted at Michigan City, the former Friday of tills week and the latter a week later, will not have to die, their lives having been spared by Governor Ralston, who reprieved them. Both men had killed their wives. They will serve life terms in the prison. The electric chair which was being prepared for them will remain idle. These were the first persons sentenced to death since the legislation substituted the chair for the gallows.
