The suit brought by the Manhattan Lumber Co., against Peter Crumpacker and others andin which other creditors of the Mineral Springs Jockey Club have since put in claims, has been occupying the court at an adjourned session since Monday. Progress has been slow, many legal questions being involved and the defendants leaving no stone unturned in an effort to prevent the plaintiffs getting personal judgments against them. The chief effort of the plaintiffs is to show a partnership, while the defendants expect to prove that instead ,of a partnership the jockey club was an association, incorporated in Indiana. It is possible that the case will be finished by Friday evening, although the progress seems very slow.

The Wheatfield Masonic lodge' conducted two funerals during the past week, having in charge the last rites in the burial service of Hon. I. D. Dunn and Eugene W. Allen. Mr. Dunn was a member of the Rensselaer order but the Wheatfield lodge conducted the service, owing to the fact that the service was held there. At both funerals John Bowie, Worshipful Master of the Roselawn lodge, had charge of the services and his very able handling of the work was the cause of many complimentary'remarks. Mr. Dunn and Mr. Allen were both men of the highest type of citizenship and in their deaths northern Jasper has lost two of its most prominent citizens. Realizing this the communities in which they lived shared the sorrow that was so great to thd immediate relatives and close neighbors. Both leave the impression of well spent lives and the country is better by their having.lived in it, while the examples they have left should furnish a radiant influence for the right during the many years to follow. /
