HIGH SCHOOL NOTES.

The basketball season opened Monday evening. The boys are divided into nine teams and have a regular schedule of games among themselves. Their respective team standings are kept marked up on a slate in the hall The K. 8. P. team leads the list as present. Twenty-Five girls have come out for basketball and have formed teams for practice. The boys who are ambitious to make the regular team have been practicing this week for the first game of their schedule with Remington at that place Friday. This year the team will be rather heavy and hope to defeat some pf their old time rivals, such as Monticello. The following schedule has-been announced: , Dec. 19—Remington (there). Jan. 9—Medaryville \there) boys and girls teams. Jan. 9—Remington (here). Jan. 16—Lafayette (there). Jan. 30—Monticello (here), i Feb. 6—Lafayette (here).

Feb. 13—Monticello (there). The all-state football team picked lately 'shows Capt. McCarthy at right end on Ist team, and Kenneth Groom at left end on, second team. •Mses Shedd’s advanced English classes have beefi studying “As You Like It,” and “Julius Caesar,” in a novel way, namely, by dramatizing them. Much interest has been created and it is safe to say that the students have a better appreciation of the classic studied than if simply read. The Christmas literary program will be given Thursday at 2:45. , The girls taking domestic science are busy inaking candy to sell. The orders have been taken and the boxes are being filled with the most delicious candy. The proceeds go to furnish a dining room in which they are going to give dinners in the future.
