COLLEGEVILLE.
Rev. Vitus Schuette, C. P. P. S., St. Joseph, Mo., a former member of the college faculty, was the guest of the college several days during the last week. At the general meeting of the athletic association held last Sunday James Fitzgerald was elected general manager of basket ball. Till the gymnasium will ibe ready the expectant varsity members will work on the outside courts. The prospects are good for another strong representative team. The raising of the gympasium was completed Wednesday afternoon. The big building now stands ten feet and two inches higher that it did originally. On Thursday the brick masons arrived and began to put under the walls; if the weather permits, they expect to have the building enclosed in a short time. On Sunday afternoon the college football team defeated the Excelsiors of Chicago by the decisive score of 45 to 0. The Excelsiors were far lighter than they had reported themselves to be, and since they had no particular speed to fall back upon they were not a match for the locals. During the first quarter they did not permit the collegians to score, but after that their energies seemed to have been expended and the home team then scored at will. The -—anksgiving day game has not yet been definitely arranged.
