Sick Austrian Caring For Himself by a Camp Fire.
Lafayette Journal. A representative of the Joilrnal went to the south part of the city near the interlocking plant Tuesday to investigate the condition of the man who had been ill for several.days without any apparent attention. The matter was reported by MohOn employes on the work train who had passed the man several times as they were on their way to and from their work. The man proved to be an Austrian and declined offers of assistance. He was living by a fire that had been kindled near the Monon tracks and said that a companion went to the city to geti food for him. He had sufficient money to provide blmself with the necessaries of life, and said that he thought he would be better in a few days. The attention of the police was called to the man on Tuesday and an officer was sent, down to investigate. The officer volunteered to take the Austrian to the jail hospital, but he declined to go, Jo that place.
