NO SPECTACLE GRAFTING AT GREAT EXPOSITION
Management of the Panama-Pacific Decline Concessions That Would Have Netted SIOO,OOO. The concession committee of the Panama-Pacific Exposition recently passed unanimously a resolution that no concession for the selling and fitting of eyeglasses be granted. This is a matter of great credit to the exposition management, when we consider that it cofet the exposition SIOO,OOO to refuse the offer of these men who hdVe made a business of defrauding the people that attend these great fairs. It is highly commendable when a body of men refuse to weigh dollars against the eyesight, health and happiness of their fellow citizens. California is to be congratulated over having such a safe committee at the head of this important division of its great exposition. This altruistic act was inspired by the American Optical Association, its affiliated societies, and the optometrists of the United States, who have worked for it unceasingly during the paot two years. They were generously aided by prominent societies and individuals as well as by Collier’s Weekly and the press of the entire country. After being supplied by the optometrists with convincing evidence that “better vision is not merely a matter of barter, but of professional skill and service,” the Ban Francisco officials threw out all bids and announced that no spectacle concession would be granted. The San Diego Exposition officials Immediately foMowed their example. hi ■— 'i McKay’s Laundry Is now prepared to do.your family washing quickly and reasonably, phone 340.
