After a Pleasant Evening.
Mr. Sydney Buxton told an amusing story for the purpose of lll»Btratilng a point at a recent dinner. A certain convivial soul, who had been Invited to dine with a friend, whose {house was at the end of a dark and muddy lane, was advised to bring a big lantern. After a very jovial evening the convivial one left and struggled home through the mud, firmly gripping his heavy burden by the handle. Next morning he received ithis message from his host: “Herewith your lantern; please return parrot and cage.” )
