Fire Department’s Good Work Conquered House Fire.

The residence of Z. Campbell, just across Harrison street from the court house, was discovered on- fire at about 11 o’clock this Thursday morning. The fire department was called and by well-directed work soon had a stubborn fire subdued. The fire was in the roof of the kitchen at the point where it joined the main part of the house. Apparently the house was doomed to destruction and many of the household goods were removed from the house, but the firemen outwitted the flames and the damage was not extensive. Never before has the value of an active Are department Ijeen more conclusively shown. With the old apparatus the house would doubtless have burned to the ground.
