COLLEGEVILLE.
The student attending college most distant from home hails from Saskatchewan, Canada. Last Wednesday the first issue of College Cheer was published. It is, the successor to Diamond Dust— Gym-Junk, that were formerly issued during the baseball and basketball seasons. The present paper will be semi-monthly, and, although it is under the auspices of the Athletic Association, it will cover all the general college news. In the second baseball game of the fall series the Relgious defeated the All Stars by the score of 5 to 6. The following were elected officers of the Raleigh Smoking Club: president, Joesph Monahan; vice-presi-dent, Rowland Kruetzer; secretary, Victor Magsam, marshal, Leo Sack. There are beginning to be faint prospects of a football team for this season. The catalog rule demanding the written permission from the parefflte or guardians for the boys to inVulge in this sport leaves a very limited number of eligible candidates. The Gymnasium has .been raised about four feet. The raising crew has temporarily suspended work. During the meantime Frank Medland is taking out the old foundation and as soon as he has put in the concrete bottom the raisers will complete their work. On Monday the students enjoyed their autumn free day. As usual it was spent in rambles through the country. While the students were in the city attending the pow wow, three lads thought it a splendid opportunity to take the afternoon trains and make hurried calls at their homes without the knowledge of the local authorities. Upon their return on Sunday they were kindly informed, that not only were they at liberty to extend that home visit, but also that there was not even a place for them to staty at St. Joseph’s.
