Colonel Jenkins, having a new pair of shoes that hurt his feet, decided to give them to one of his negro servants, who had left the old plantation to be with his “marsa” in the war. The old fellow shambled around wearing a pair of tattered shoes that looked like sandals. “Zeke, what Bite shoes do you! wear?” he called to him.
