DEFEATED CHICAGO ALLSTARS SUNDAY

Athletics Made Many Excellent Plays and Had Little Difficulty in Winning Game. Rensselaer played ’some good ball Sunday and defeated the Chicago All-Stars by the score of 7 to 4. It was one of the best games of the season and was studded with a number of brilliant plays in which several of the local lads showed a lot of clkss. Clark, the local pitchey, had worked in two other games during the week, having pitched for the Athletics against Mo non on Wednesday and fo* Monticeilo against Idaville Saturday. He was hardly in trim for a difficult game and the fielders had a little more work than common to do. The error column shows six misplays but to offset these many difficult chances were taken. Parks had nine chances at second, many of them very hard, and he accepted eight of them and received much applause. Mason,

who caught, played a star game, especially on the sacks, and made three of the scores by fine base rulining. Eldridge played a splendid game also and almost made a three base hit, being tagged just as he was going in at the third corner. Elder caught a hard chance in deep left field and almost got another, but stepped into a hole in the ground and this let three score. Swartzell and Elmer Wilcox did the strong work with the stick and “Dad” brought in four of the scores by timely swings, while Wilcox knocked one of the longest hits of the season and pulled up safely on third. The receipts Sunday were $50.90.

The Knights of Columbus team, of Chicago, are billed for next Sunday, but the Chicago teams are expensive and Manager KipMng'er will try to get Remington instead. If successful the Chicago game will be cancelled.
