The ONLOOKER

The SKEPTIC

By HENRY HOWLAND

He had no faith in doctors, they were all quacks, he believed; He looked upon their patients as poor tools who were deceived; He had ho faith in preachers, nor in what they had to preach; They were nothing hut imposters, he in* sisted, all and each. He said that officeholders were all seal* lawags and crooks; He thought that every banker kept a set of doctored books; He had no faith in people who declared they were his friends;. He suspected them of wishing but to further selfish ends. He had no faith In heaven, nor In any of the creeds, He was rather doubtful even of the good of worthy deeds; But one day a foolish women who was full of wiles and lies Won his faith, though others- plainly saw the wool pujled o’er his eyes.
